What?s next in carpet colors - and how do you choose?
We're writing this in the last two months of 2021, but people are already asking about color predictions for the next year, especially since they?re planning a carpet installation. Color choice depends mainly on decor; for example, the rustic decor trend will have a lot of browns, beige, and cream colors, while the trend toward botanicals will have every shade of green from sage to lime and turquoise. On the other hand, traditional decor relies on primary colors, including yellow, blue, and red.
Remember, though, the best colors are the ones most aligned with your style and overall decor. Don't buy something just because it's a trend; buy it because you love it. Going with the neutrals
We will say that neutrals are always our biggest sellers. The floor is usually the most significant surface and takes up the most square footage. That means it has the most significant impact. Sometimes bright shades in a large expanse can be overpowering, and if you don't like it, you can't just keep changing your flooring (unless you have unlimited funds!) It might be best to keep that surface neutral; you can always add color to the other elements, layer with bright, bold area rugs, or even go with a multi-tone, like a flecked Berber, to add a little color while still keeping it subtle.
Consider your lifestyle when choosing a color
This is a huge consideration when selecting the carpet color. For example, if you have a large family with kids and pets, a white carpet may not be your choice since it shows dirt. If you have a pet with white fur which sheds, you may not want a dark rug; the opposite is true if you have a black cat! Also, keep in mind that medium tones show far less dirt than very light or dark ones.
